Education

Mr. Butler received his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1985, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1979.

Memberships

Mr. Butler is admitted to practice by the North Carolina State Bar and the U.S. District Court Eastern District of North Carolina and Middle District of North Carolina. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Cumberland County Bar Association, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, and the Defense Research Institute.

Practice Areas

Mr. Butler's practice areas include general insurance defense, governmental liability, trucking defense, premises liability defense, commercial subrogation, and selected plaintiff’s cases.

Biography

Mr. Butler was born and raised in Fayetteville, N.C. and graduated from Terry Sanford High School. He then went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He majored in economics and received his B.A. in 1979. Mr. Butler went on to receive his J.D. in 1985 from the North Carolina Central University School of Law where he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. Mr. Butler joined the firm in 1985 and was allowed to serve as an Assitant District Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial District in 1985-1986. Mr. Butler has almost twenty five years of trial and appellate experiance.
